There are more methods than one of judging dressage test but no method is valid unless judge's knowledge surpasses in every way the knowledge of the competitor.
Nor can extensive practice of judging be a substitute for study; a judge should not merely mark innacuracies and irregularities without positivily recognising their underlying causes.
This presupposes year of intelligent and sensitive study of the principles of dressage, togheter with a deep respect and responsability for the art and its future.
For if a judge can be so impressed by the flashy mevement of an extraordinarily powerful horse that transgressions of principles are disregarded, then that judge allows the art of dressage to become corrupted...
